Housing & Residence Life has always sought to provide students with opportunities to live in vibrant, inclusive communities that engage and support students in their academic and non-academic endeavors. We are focused on making our residence halls as safe as possible and are committed to continued excellence in supporting our residents. To that end, due to concerns of COVID-19, there are several changes we are implementing to reduce risk for all students, faculty, and staff.
Limiting contact among people both on and off campus is critical. While on campus, you should remain at least 6 feet away from others. When walking in corridors and entries where you must pass someone close than 6 feet away, move with purpose. Please do not congregate in any areas of the residence halls. Please adhere to posted signage regarding number of occupants permitted in student bedroom, laundry rooms, and elevators. Community lounges, kitchens, music practice rooms, recreation rooms, and Resident Deans Commons have been temporarily closed. Housing & Residence Life will continue to be advised by the University as to when these spaces can be safely reopened for student use.
Residence Halls Guest /访客规则已被修订。所有住宅馆的客房和生活空间仅限于仅限建筑物居民。不允许一夜之间，包括家庭成员。
Housing & Residence Life staff (Resident Heads and Resident Assistants) will be in residence this fall to support all students and provide virtual and when safe, in-person, programming. RHs and RAs will be regularly checking in with students virtually- please make sure to respond- in order to reduce person to person interactions. The Housing & Residence Life office is open 8:30am to 5pm weekdays, and an Assistant Director of Residence Life is on call at all other times to assist with urgent matters.
The University and Housing & Residence Life are committed to the well-being of our students. The University has many resources to assist students during this unprecedented time including stress reduction tips, virtual wellness coaching, and mindful meditation. Please visit the Wellness resources available at //wellness.uchicago.edu/。学生还可以与心理健康服务联系在一起 //wellness.uchicago.edu/mental-health/.
If a student needs to go into quarantine, and they reside in on-campus housing, Housing & Residence Life will work with the student to ensure they are able to safely quarantine and have meals delivered to them. Students may need to relocate as needed to safeguard their health and that of their community.
If a student needs to go into isolation, and they reside in on-campus housing, Housing & Residence Life will work with the student to ensure they are able to safely be in isolation and have meals delivered to them. Students may need to relocate as needed to safeguard their health and that of their community.
The University has set aside student housing that will serve as quarantine and isolation accommodations for residential students. When a residential student is temporarily assigned to quarantine or isolation, the student will receive a detailed plan from Housing & Residence Life about the steps they need to take to prepare for their stay in temporary accommodations, including a “what to bring” list, information about self-care during the quarantine or isolation period, and contact information for assistance during the quarantine or isolation period.
